Before you start
- Back up important files before installing or changing disks.
- Connect a laptop to mains power.
- This USB is designed for compatible 64-bit Intel/AMD PCs, not Apple Silicon or ARM-only devices.
- The standard live session does not permanently save changes.
Start from the USB
Insert the USB
Switch the computer off fully. Insert the USB drive into a direct USB port.
Open the boot menu
Switch on and repeatedly press the boot key. Common keys are F12, Esc, F9, F10 or F11.
Select the USB
Choose the USB device. On a modern computer, choose its “UEFI” entry where available.
Try before installing
Use the live try option first to test Wi-Fi, sound, keyboard, touchpad and display.
Install only when ready
Open the installer, read every disk option carefully and do not erase a disk unless you intend to remove its contents.
Restart
When installation finishes, restart and remove the USB when prompted.
