Terms and conditions.
Starter terms for a UK physical-goods website. Complete and review all highlighted fields before publishing.
1. Seller information
This website is operated by [ADD LEGAL NAME / COMPANY NAME], trading as Ubuntu from USB.
Postal address: [ADD FULL BUSINESS POSTAL ADDRESS]
Email: sales@ubuntufromusb.co.uk
Company number, where applicable: [ADD COMPANY NUMBER OR “NOT APPLICABLE”]
VAT number, where applicable: [ADD VAT NUMBER OR “NOT VAT REGISTERED”]
2. Product description
The main product is a physical 16GB USB flash drive prepared as bootable installation media using an official unmodified Ubuntu Desktop image for the stated computer architecture. Product photographs and illustrations are representative; minor changes to the USB casing or branding may occur provided capacity and function are not reduced.
3. Free and open-source software
Ubuntu is freely available open-source software. The product price is charged for the physical storage device, preparation, testing, instructions, packaging and delivery. No Ubuntu software licence, activation key, Canonical support contract or endorsement is sold.
4. Independent seller and trademarks
Ubuntu from USB is an independent seller and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Canonical Ltd. Ubuntu and Canonical are registered trademarks of Canonical Ltd. Other trademarks belong to their respective owners.
5. Compatibility
The customer is responsible for checking the published compatibility information before ordering. Hardware and firmware vary, and compatibility with every computer cannot be guaranteed. This product is intended for compatible 64-bit Intel and AMD PCs and is not intended for Apple Silicon or ARM-only systems.
6. Orders and contract
Product information displayed on the website is an invitation to place an order. A contract is formed when we accept the order and send confirmation. We may decline an order before acceptance, for example where stock is unavailable, payment is not authorised or delivery is not possible.
7. Price and payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling and include applicable taxes where stated. Payment is handled by PayPal. We do not ask customers to send full card details by email.
8. Delivery
Delivery details, estimates and charges are stated on the Delivery & Returns page and at checkout. Risk passes to the consumer when the goods come into the consumer’s physical possession or that of a person identified by the consumer.
9. Installation warning
Using an operating-system installer can alter partitions, overwrite an existing operating system and erase data. Customers should back up important files before installation and read every installer screen carefully. Trying the live environment is different from installing to the internal disk.
10. Cancellations, returns and faulty goods
Cancellation, return and refund information is set out on the Delivery & Returns page. Nothing in these terms excludes or restricts statutory consumer rights.
11. Support
Unless expressly stated in the product description, the purchase does not include on-site installation, data recovery, ongoing IT support or a commercial support agreement. Any general guidance is provided without access to the customer’s computer and cannot guarantee a particular outcome.
12. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. Subject to consumer law, we are not responsible for loss caused by ignoring compatibility information, failure to back up data, choosing an incorrect disk or partition, or changes made by the customer during installation.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [ADD ENGLAND AND WALES / SCOTLAND / NORTHERN IRELAND AS APPROPRIATE]. Consumers may have the right to bring proceedings in the part of the UK where they live.
14. Changes
These terms may be updated for future orders. The terms applying to an accepted order are those supplied or available when that order was placed.
